This is a meeting between management and myself in order to establish:
Who will be attending the workshop?
What their role and function is in the business?
What their areas of weakness are perceived to be?
What the goals for management are for optimum communication?
It is also to establish the work policy of the company, what they require
from their employees and the image and vision they wish to project both
internally and externally. This workshop can be tailor made to management’s
requirements. This includes dividing the 8 hours into suitable time
blocks for each business. Please note that the workshop takes place
over a period of weeks not over one day.
In our Communications Workshop we work on the principles of going back
to basics and reassessing what the perceptions are of the work environment
as it currently stands. This frequently differs in certain areas from
the perceptions that management has formed. This training brings a working
awareness to the individual on how to communicate better within their
environment and in pressurized situations. Training is focused on resolution
and solution based options through clear communication. Issues of concern
and importance, which the management has specifically requested, are
also addressed in this forum.
- Establishing the criteria for good and effective communication
- Exploring alternatives to communication policies and procedures
that are not functioning at an optimum and causing inefficiency in
the work place
- Addressing each participant’s perception of the image they
project in the work place, and what they’d like to project.
- Addressing the impact and importance of both one’s verbal
(vocal projection, tone, clarity etc) and non-verbal (body language,
eye contact, self-awareness, empathy levels etc) communication skills
- Addressing listening skills, which is vital to the communication
process.
- Addressing the areas of grooming and healthy lifestyle habits
A range of techniques are used to facilitate this workshop. Discussion,
explorative writing, role-play and interactive exercises are used. Some
of the exercises are recorded on camera in order to show the participants
the actual image being projected.
Please note that this workshop is the vital first step to creating
a fluid environment in the work place. An assessment of what further
measures and training is needed will given to the company after completion
of this first workshop. The programme will work closely with the needs
of the H.R. department and co-create a programme, which can be sustained
by management after the initial intensive training takes place. The
retraining of people’s communication skills is a complex process
that needs ongoing development and supportive structures.
